Recipe : Spicy Pita Crisps

Serve these light and tasty crisps as a flavorful alternative to fried chips. With a bowl of
fat-free salsa, they make a pleasing snack or casual hors d'oeuvre.

Makes 4 servings

Three 2-ounce whole-wheat pitas, split
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Pinch ground red pepper

Preheat oven to 350o F.
Cut each pita half into 6 triangles. In medium bowl, combine triangles and oil; toss
until coated well. Arrange in single layer on baking sheet.
In small bowl, combine garlic salt, paprika, chili powder, cumin and black and ground
red peppers. Sprinkle half of spice mixture over pitas; turn and sprinkle second side.
Bake until light gold, about 10 minutes. Cool before serving.

SERVING (12 CHIPS) PROVIDES: 1/2 Fat, 1 1/2 Breads; 4 grams Fat, 3 grams Fiber.
