Delicious And Healthy Low Carb Atkins Diet Recipe

Recipe : Cafe de Olla

This is so rich tasting that it would make a fine dessert! Make it extra strong and
serve it iced in summer. Or you can freeze a batch in ice-cube trays and whirl in a
blender for a coffee slush.

Makes 4 servings

1/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
Two 2" pieces cinnamon stick or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Zest of 1/2 small orange
1/4 teaspoon aniseed, crushed
2/3 cup Vienna-roast or other light-roast ground coffee grinds (medium grind)

In medium saucepan, combine sugar, cinnamon, zest, aniseed and 1 quart water;
bring liquid to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, covered, 10 minutes. Remove
from heat.
Add ground coffee grinds to sugar mixture; stir to combine. Let stand, covered,
5 minutes, until flavors are blended.
Stir coffee mixture, then strain into heated coffee pot or 4 coffee mugs.
