Recipe : Candied Oranges

Makes 4 servings

3 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 small navel oranges
1 fluid ounce (2 tablespoons) orange-flavored liqueur

In small saucepan, combine sugar and 1/2 cup water; cook over medium heat,
without stirring, 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, with zester or vegetable peeler, remove zest from 1 orange, forming
long strips; cut into slivers. Stir zest into sugar syrup; reduce heat to low. Cook,
without stirring, 5 minutes longer.
Meanwhile, peel oranges; cut into 1/4" slices. Divide orange slices evenly among
4 plates.
Add liqueur to sugar mixture; pour evenly over orange slices.
